Thomas Probst

Thomas Probst is a Professor for Contracts, Private European and Comparative Law at the University of Fribourg since 2006.

Probst studied economics at the University of St. Gallen and graduated in 1982, he thereafter studied law at the University of St. Gallen and graduated in 1985 obtaining his admission to the bar in 1987. He obtained an LL.M degree at Harvard Law School in 1989.

He was a head assistant at the University of Basel from 1993 to 1994 and was a Privatdozent for private, commercial and comparative and legal methods since 1996. He was a lecturer of law at the University of St. Gallen from 1996 to 2002, he became a full Professor of Law at the University of Neuchatel in 1997, where he stayed until 2006.  He held important functions in the Swiss National Fund of Research.
