Georges Sauser-Hall was born in 1884 in La Chaux-de -Fonds. Sauser-Hall was Professor of Comparative Law at the University of Neuchâtel (1912), chief legal officer of the Political Department in Berne (1915-1924), Professor of Civil Law, Comparative and International Private Law at the University of Geneva (1924-1954) forensic consultant and professor of the Turkish government in Istanbul (1925-1931), lecturer at the Universities of Neuchâtel and Lausanne (1954).
In 1946, Switzerland appointed Sauser-Hall a member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague. The Federal Council commissioned him several times to defend Switzerland to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, including Paul Guggenheim Interhandel case (1957-1959). He was repeatedly appointed as arbitrator in international procedures and in 1956, he assumed the vice-presidency of the Arbitration Commission on the settlement of financial issues between the Allies and Germany. Sauser-Hall was the author of many notable books including the Political institutions of Switzerland published in 1946. Georges Sauser-Hall passed away in December 1966 in Geneva.
