René Schwok

René Schwok is associated with the European Institute and the Department of Political Science of the University of Geneva. He is also the holder of the Jean Monnet Chair in Political Science.

Schwok was born in Geneva. He received his PhD from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva pursuing part of his studies at the Institute for European Studies at Harvard University, Cambridge MA.

He was a visiting professor at the Université Catholique de Louvain, at the Hebrew Diplomatic Academy of Malta, at the Institute for International High Studies Center, for Security Policy at Colgate University.

He teaches and focuses his research on the European Union with special interest on the foreign relations of the European Union, as well as issues concerning identity, history and questions of Europe. At the European Institute he also is the director of the Master of Advanced Studies.
