Bernd Pollermann

Bernd Pollermann is a German physicist. He was 30 years old when he started working as a physicist at CERN in Geneva.

Pollermann was experienced in managing large bases of information and was responsible for the index of CERN’s computer centre documentation. As a team member and physicist, he developed one of the first search engines, called XFIND.

In 1994 Pollermann was responsible for the «XFIND» indexes on the CERNVM node, for their operation and their contents. He worked in the AS group of CN division and contributed code for the FIND server, which allows hypertext access to the large store of information. Pollermann is now over 70 years old.
