Jan Widmer is general counsel for Microsoft Schweiz GmbH, Switzerland, and a member of the executive management team. He currently leads the legal and corporate affairs department that is responsible for Switzerland and Austria.
Jan Widmer studied law at the University of Zurich and Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law (LL.M.), New York City, where he focused on IT and IP law. He deepened his management skills at the MIT Sloan School of Management (MBA) in Cambridge, MA, concentrating on technology, startups and business strategy.
Before Jan Widmer joined Microsoft Schweiz GmbH, he was head of legal and compliance at Publicitas AG, an international advertising and marketing firm located in Switzerland. He worked as an attorney-at-law for a court institution and for the prosecution in Zurich (Department of Economic Crime).
